Toy Box, Swingset & Homecoming

Well, everyone is probably wondering what is going on with this title.... Well, it is what has happened in the past few weeks here at our humble little home....

Alex took Chelsea to PHS's homecoming dance this past weekend. They matched and looked really cute together, Alex even went out and bought her a bouqet of her favorite flowers.

Braydon got a new swingset, He LOVES it and is having fun on it.

Here he is trying to master the standing on the swing, tounge out and all, just like his daddy!

Then thanks to a friend, he was given a toy box. Of course, he figured out he can climb in it... Then he went and found a screw driver and tried working on it. We were able to get it moved to the basement and the toys are in it now! Mommy LOVES it, because now his toys are not scattered EVERY evening from one end to the other.

Angel Food Ministries

OK - A church friend turned me onto this over the weekend.... I plan on giving it a try in October.... This is a ministry to anyone who wants to use it... There are no applications, no qualifications and no limits on how much you buy.

So what is it?? Angel Food Ministry. You get around $50 in food for only $25. I recomend going to their website and checking them out for yourself and to get more details. The Harmony Vineyard Church at 600 NE 46th St, KC MO is the closest Northland location that I know of.... Anyway, they have dates that you have to go to the church in person, place your order and prepay. Then on the set date, they have a two hour time frame that you go and pick up your food.

So - Anyway - I am going to give them a try for October & will let everyone know. If anyone is interested in doing this with me, let me know!

PS - The below typing is Braydon's first post.... He wanted to help, so here it is... Not sure what all he is trying to say, but he was smiling and had a blast typing it.

Labor Day Adventures - Part 3

On to Part 3....

On Saturday evening we went over to Dougs sister and brother-n-laws house to meet up with the majority of the family and for dinner. We had a Shrimp Boil. It was WONDERFUL! Highly recommend for a large group and when you can cook it outside.... Here is the recipie. I will post pictures later on this evening, and will add a post for Sunday's adventures as well.

SHRIMP BOIL
1 bottle of Zatarans shrimp concentrate
1 bag of Zararans shrimp seasoning
5 lbs of red potatos - quartered
15 links of uncookd brats - cut into one inch pieces
14 corn on the cob - shucked and cut in half
4 lbs of peeled and devained raw shrimp

To do the full amount above, you need at least a 30qt turkey fryer. Fill 2/3 with water, add the shrimp concentrate and seasoning and bring to a full boil. Add the potatos and boil for 15 minutes, then add the brats and cook for 5 minutes, then add the corn and cook 5 minutes, then add the shrimp and cook for 5 more mintues. This allotted tims from begining to end is 30 minutes, Drain and serve. We put newspaper across the table outside and just dumped it out water and all and then served. You can nicely drain and the put in serving bowls. You do not seperate anything, you just keep adding and serve it all together as well.
What is listed above fed 12 adults with left overs! I am sure that you could cut the recipie down to smaller amounts, just be careful with the concentrate and seasoning, as it can get spicy if you do not cut it down enough.

Labor Day Adventures - Part 2

Saturday Day was spent at the Wichita Zoo. Braydon enjoyed seeing all of the animals and we all enjoyed spending time with Mom & Nancy. But after walking a good part of the zoo and a few hours later, we were ready to head out. Thanks to Mom & Nancy for getting us in and for the train you bought for Braydon.

Family Pic's - The one above is outside of the Zoo, and then the one below is where we were standing up above the gorilla exhibit, and I saw our shadows, and thought it was cool... So I snapped a picture of it.

Braydon and Doug are behind the gorilla, looking in. We sure were glad that there was glass between us!
Braydon sure is small next to the gorilla!

He wanted to walk or be carried thru the zoo, and of course he had to be an even bigger boy when he was walking and carry the water thermos.
The cute meercats.

Watch out Braydon, the geese are hungry too..... I got Braydon to throw the food out and away from him, or he might have been a few fingers less!
He liked the Horse and the horse was calm and let Braydon touch and pet his nose.

Feeding the Goats and Sheep.... Which were MAJOR little piggies, you could barely get the food out of the machine without being pushed out of the way by them wanting to try and get the food themselves. But compared to the geese, they took the food from your hands and would leave your fingers behind.
One of the ducks was bathing and then flapping the water off of his feathers when I took this!
Penguins, Penguins and more Penguins. They were cool to watch, as a group of the were really active and they kept swimming right in front of us.
Looking at the fish in the little water area going into the Petting Zoo.
