Braydon, Andrew & I attended our first KU Football game this weekend. Yes, Doug was there, but it was not his first..... Because my work had extra tickets, I got some that ended up being used by Tracy & Caleb, Andrew's Dad & Step-Brother.
It was a great experience, from the Chanting of the crowd, to the "waving wheat" (fans waving their hands when KU scored), to the Gong sounding when KU scored... And of course KU won over Baylor, 58-10, which for the die hard fans - That puts KU's record at 6-0!!!
To start the morning off we got into Lawrence around 9:00am, had breakfast at the KU Alumni Building, got serenaded by part of the KU Band (actually everyone there, not just us). They played several different songs including the KU Fight song, which the audience chanted to.... Of course it was a RAINY day, so we headed over to the Union building to walk around and wait for game time.... Which ended up being delayed until 12:00, then the rain kept coming, so it was delayed again until 1:00.... So Andrew, Doug and Braydon bowled in the JayBowl bowling alley. It was so cute to watch them! Of course, I had left my camera in the car due to the rain, so I have no pictures of this. So finally the rain let up and the kick-off happened at 1:00. Then partway through the 1st quarter, there was a 20 minute lightening delay. Once that passed, the game resumed with a light cool wind and a sprinkle here and there. So we were bundled up in two and three layers to stay warm and dry. But with KU playing SO WELL, we really did not mind the weather! Partway thru the game Braydon was getting grumpy, so I sat him on my lap and rocked him to sleep, he did sleep for about 45 minutes. He then was awake and happy the rest of the time we were there. We left with 10 minutes left on the clock so we could beat some of the crowd. All-in-All, it was a fun filled day, that wore Braydon (& the rest of us) out.
Oh Yeah - One more cute thing... After his little nap, he saw the Jay Hawk Mascot and started saying "Hawkie, Daddy, Hawkie, Daddy" and pointing down towards the field. It was really cute when we realized what he was saying and pointing at!
OK - Here are some shots!
